Dennis Lindsey, age 86, of New Castle, IN passed away at home on February 6, 2026 with his wife, Myra Kaye Williams Lindsey at his side. Dennis was born at home on his parents’ farm in Losantville, IN. He is survived by his wife, Kaye, his daughters, Cheryl K. Bennett and Jan Lindsey, and his son, Tom Lindsey. Surviving grandchildren include Laura Bennett (Kim), Bradley Bennett (Dino Mangano), Carri Lindsey Davis, Jonathan Lindsey (Mandy) and Jenna Short (Tim). Surviving great-grandchildren include Natalie, Aly and Lachlan Bennett, Joseph Mangano and Daniel Bennett, Chase, Chloe, and Claire Davis, and William Lindsey.
Dennis married his first wife, Nancy Louise King Lindsey on May 24, 1958. A vow renewal ceremony took place at Memorial Park on their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married until her death on March 5, 2014.
Dennis was an avid reader and encouraged his children to read with trips to the local library. He volunteered with the Friends of the New Castle-Henry County Library where he met his second wife, Myra Kaye Williams Lindsey. Dennis and Kaye married on February 18, 2017.
After 41 years of service, Dennis retired from Monumental Life Insurance Company. His great love was the outdoors where he enjoyed walking, hiking, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed camping and traveling. He especially loved time at Summit Lake State Park.
Dennis was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church where he participated in the DIVE, (Developing Important Values for Eternity) programs with elementary school aged children. Dennis volunteered with God’s Grain Bin Food Pantry. In his younger years, Dennis enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled kit airplanes. He loved to listen to old time country music. He especially enjoyed the live music on Monday evenings at Baker Park. In addition to influencing his children to love the outdoors, he taught them to play Chess. He felt that to be successful in life that each of his children needed to learn to play Chess.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Esther Lindsey, and brothers Ralph, Edgar, Howard, Wilbur, and Theodore.
The family appreciates the care provided to Dennis by all medical professionals, caregivers and hospice in the three years that he battled Multiple Myeloma. His children are thankful for the loving care provided by his wife, Kaye.
Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, February 10th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to DIVE or God's Grain Bin.
