Dianna J. Selmeyer, 83, formerly of Sulphur Springs passed away Monday, May 11,2026 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 23, 1942 in New Castle to the late Delbert and Gertrude (Hughes) Hedrick.
A lifelong cook, Dianna had worked at the Iron Kettle in Sulphur Springs as well as Bill’s Diner and the Quick Shop in New Castle. She once made the statement: “I’d rather cook in front of Gordon Ramsey than my own mother”.
Dianna also kept house for various professional people in New Castle and also served as a Nanny. Her hobbies included embroidering, painting and working jigsaw puzzles. Dianna also loved interior decorating, making crafts and visiting the casino.
Survivors include two daughters: Tina Ventura and Betty Jordan; a son: Matthew England, several grandchildren; a brother: Melvin Hedrick and a sister: Gloria Burton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dianna was preceded in death by her husband: Romaine “Slim” Selmeyer; a son, Michael Brown and ten brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Dianna at www.hinsey-brown.com.
