November 26, 1955 — September 1, 2025

New Castle

Dianne “DeDe” Clayborn, 69, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Born on December 26, 1955, in New Castle, Indiana, DeDe was the beloved daughter of the late William Alexander and Emma Lou (Smith) Clayborn II.

DeDe was known for her immense heart, unwavering kindness, and ability to touch lives in just moments. She never met a stranger, welcomed anyone in need, and was always willing to give—often saying, “I’ll make more,” as she gave her last dime to someone in need. Her strength, generosity, and unconditional love made her the best mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend anyone could ask for.

A 1973 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School, she dedicated much of her life to serving others as a psychiatric nurse at the State Hospital, where her compassion and leadership later led her to the role of supervisor.

A woman of deep faith, DeDe was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Castle.

DeDe is survived by her children, Tommy Madison Clayborn and William Albert Clayborn; siblings, Debbie Merida, William Alexander “Sonny” Clayborn III and Anthony (Susan) Clayborn; grandchildren, Alyssia, Quenton (Marissa) and Daius Clayborn; great grandchildren, Nylah and Elayah; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special family friend, Debra Fox.

In addition to her parents, DeDe was preceded in death by her siblings, Connie Mae Douglas, Donna Jane Davis and Ernest Charles Clayborn; her favorite dog, Daius.

DeDe’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Henry County EMS, Henry County Community Health and IU Ball Memorial Hospital for all their kind and loving care.

In keeping with DeDe’s wishes, a simple cremation will take place. You may express condolences or share memories of DeDe at www.hinsey-brown.com.
