Donald Wayne Turner

Donald Wayne Turner, 73, formerly of New Castle passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at Tampa General Hospital. He was born October 31, 1952 in Henry County. 

A 1970 graduate of Chrysler High School, Don lived in New Castle until 1974. He retired from International Harvester Corp. in 2002 after 30 years of service. Don also retired from Sarasota County Area Transit in 2022. He was a member of ATU Local #1731 where he served as president for 9 ½ years. Don’s hobbies included watching sports, bowling, golf, fishing and Mopar cars.

Survivors include his wife: Teresa (Dale) Turner, whom he married May 11, 2013; sisters: Robin Stephens, Patricia Love and Rita Jo (Frank) Willoughby; step-children: Tyler Rasmussen, Thomas Albritton, Colleen (Joshua) Shurley and Icely Gray; grandchildren: Iris, Hunter, Eve, Josephine and Aden; niece: Antonia, Romantic and Enchantment; nephew: Trevor and Fred; great-nephew: Robert; and many great great-nieces/ nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his mother: Deloris (Turner) Stephens; father: Edgar Gaddis, maternal grandparents: Ernest and Mary Turner; sister-Beverly K Becote; niece: Tanya Love and great-niece: Teasia Scott.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 8, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Ricky Cottman officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00pm Thursday, May 7 at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sarasota at a later date.
