Donna Jean Lenceski Stanley, 61, of Indianapolis, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday morning in Indiana University Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born April 20, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph Paul and Sophia Elizabeth (Lewandowski) Lenceski.
A graduate of Dearborn High School in Dearborn, Michigan, she received a Bachelor’s degree in History and Master’s degrees in English and British Literature, all from Ball State University. While a graduate student at Ball State, she taught English there. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church, she was a past member of the St. Anne Society and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
While living in New Castle, she hosted the radio program “Peaches and Cream†on WCTW. She had also worked for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department as a jail matron and also as a dispatcher. She was a member of TOPS and enjoyed cross word puzzles, crocheting, knitting, sewing and all crafts in general.
She is survived by her husband, Glen L. Stanley of Indianapolis, whom she married December 27, 1980; a sister, Karen (husband, Michael) Mitchell and their children, Evan and Mary Mitchell, all of New Castle; a brother, Larry (wife, Cathy) Lenceski of New Castle and their children, Joe (wife, Amy) Lenceski of Fishers, and Larry and Paul Lenceski, both of New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joseph W. and Richard Lenceski.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Sister Shirley Gerth officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the funeral home, where a rosary service will be said at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Anne Catholic Church Rebuild Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
