Dorothy J. Pope

Dorothy J. Pope, 89, of New Castle passed away on Sunday May 11, 2025, at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born on August 15, 1935, in Mooreland to the late Robert Glen and Beretha (Houser) Holcomb.

A 1953 graduate of Mooreland High School. Dorothy married the love of her life, Donald Pope on June 5, 1955. She worked as a secretary for several medical offices for over 23 years. Dorothy was a member of Buck Creek Church of the Brethren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Matthew (Lisa) Pope and Susan (Randy) Polston; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parent, Dorothy is preceded in death by her Husband, Donald Pope; sons, Bruce Pope and Jerry Pope; siblings, Betty Ruth Fleming, Helen Eloise Gossage, Mary Lou Cartwright, Robert Holcomb, Eldon Ray Holcomb, Howard Elwood Holcomb, Norma Jane Crandall, Larry Lee Holcomb and Richard Holcomb.
