Dorothy E. Richey

Dorothy E. Richey, 93, of Knightstown passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Morristown Manor. She was born December 30, 1929 in Carthage the daughter of Thomas and Daisy (Logan) McClurg.

She lived in Carthage during her childhood, attended the Carthage Friends Church and graduated from Carthage High School in 1948. She married Richard L. Richey of Knightstown on June 4, 1949. They raised their four children in Knightstown. Dorothy was a very devoted mother and grandmother and found great joy in caring for her family. She received her Associate Degree in Social Work from IU East in 1982. Dorothy retired from Indiana Soldiers & Sailors Children’s Home where she loved assisting the children in the hospital. She was a member of the Knightstown Friends Church.

She is survived by four children, Cheryl (Bill) Leverton of Ft. Wayne, Robin Richey of Knightstown, Richard (Shari) Richey of Zionsville and Kevin Richey of Knightstown; grandchildren, Kristen Leverton, Erika (James) Sylvia, Laura (Brent) Smith, Rachelle Richey, Ryan (Stacey) Richey, Craig (Brittany) Richey, Abigail (Brian) Hatfield, Anne Marie (Jeff) Moser, Madeline Richey and Max Richey; great grandchildren, Jacob, Travis, Alaina, Gavin, Garrett, Ava Claire, Tess, Isaac, Eliana, Raylea, Mallory, and Kamry; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Richey in 2017; brothers, Ralph, Dewey, Walby, Frank, Coy, and Melvin; sisters, Margie, Violet, and Gathel.

Visitation and services will be held at Knightstown Friends Church, 214 E Brown Street, Knightstown, IN from 4-7 PM Sunday, October 29, 2023 and 11 AM - 1 PM on Monday, October 30, 2023 with the funeral service at 1:00 PM.
