Eddie Chriswell

March 26, 1927 — August 28, 2008

Eddie F. Chriswell, Sr., 72, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born March 26, 1936 in Eadsville, Kentucky to the late Lee and Maggie (Coffey) Chriswell.

A veteran of the United States Army, he was a heavy equipment operator for Ralph Reed and Son Construction in Anderson for twelve years and drove a fuel tanker for Econoline for nine years. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1998. He had also owned and operated Ed Chriswell’s Truck and Auto Repair in New Castle for over 15 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #91 in New Castle. He enjoyed camping, boating, and vacationing with his family.

Survivors include three sons: Eddie F. Chriswell, Jr. of Valdosta, GA, Ernie Chriswell of New Castle and Tim (wife: Bev) Chriswell of Liberty; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ethel (husband, John) Hanning of New Castle and Carolyn (husband, Rev. Don) Kitchell of Gilmer, TX; three brothers, Ray (wife, Ada) Chriswell of Kennard, Clarence (wife, Georgia) Chriswell of Wilkinson, and Floyd (wife, Brenda) Chriswell of Medway, OH; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Chriswell in 2006; two sisters, Lillie Doss and Dorothy Jewell McBryant; two brothers, Jesse Arville and Rev. Bobby Gene Chriswell.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Reverend Don Kitchell officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2008 with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Online condolences may be sent at www.hinsey-brown.com .
