Edward E. "Eddie" Privett, age 67, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 17, 1947 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Orville and Mary Ola (Rollins) Privett.
He was a 1965 graduate of New Castle High School and served on the New Castle Police Department. Eddie retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2003 after 30 years of service. He then worked for Dennis Equipment and Memorial Park. He was a member of the Eagles and Masonic Lodges. He loved spending time with his family, attending his grandson Dylan's ballgames, and going to car shows with his 1965 Dodge Coronet 440. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, mowing his yard and sitting on the back porch watching the birds.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Connie (Upchurch) Privett of New Castle; daughter, Dana Claywell of Indianapolis; son, Brice Privett (fiancé, Amber) of New Castle; two stepchildren, Heather Moles of New Castle, Heith (Stephanie) Moles of Greenfield; grandchildren, Josh Moles (fiancé, Brittiney) of New Castle, Cassidy Razor of Anderson, Sam Cross, Josie Privett, and Jesse Privett all of New Castle, Dylan Moles and Kaycie Moles both of Greenfield; great grandchildren, Cora Smith of Anderson, Keaton Moles of New Castle; sisters, Nova Edmonds, June Wiley, Jane Deaton and Ettalee Taylor; brother, Dorman Privett; mother-in-law, Emogene Bowers; brother-in-law, Jim (Viv) Upchurch; two sisters-in-law; Darlene (Larry) Thompson and Cathy (Ed) Stevenson; his best friend, Wilburn Culbertson (Beth Pearson); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Denzil "Sonny" Privett, Gloria Ridenour, Omer Privett and Robert Privett.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Thomas Current officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
