Ella Neal

Ella L. Neal, 90, of New Castle, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie following an extended illness. She was born June 14, 1918 in Esto (Russell County) Kentucky, a daughter of the late James Barton and Bessie Pearl (Gaskins) Huckaby.

A homemaker, she had been an active member of the First Apostolic Church in New Castle since 1946. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, and family gatherings. Her sweet, calm disposition and her wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed among her many friends and family.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Rosemary (husband, Terry) Disbro of New Castle; three sons, James F. ( fiance, Lillian Davis) Neal of New Castle, Roger D. (wife, Annette) Neal of Cambridge City, and Victor Ray (wife, Tammy) Neal of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Marquita Stafford of Rock Hill, SC, Jeremy Neal of Rock Hill, SC, Robyn (husband, Billy) Smith of Greenfield, Rosella and Billy Ray Neal; six great grandchildren, Trey Stafford and Trinity Stafford, Catherine and William E. Smith III, Casey and Ryan Neal; one sister, Louevina Jones of Mineral Wells, TX; two brothers, Paul Huckaby of Losantville and Bruce Huckaby of Mt. Summit; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey F. Neal in 1964; an infant daughter, Robin Louise; two sisters, Myrtie Florence Huckaby and Leon Neal; two brothers, Lewis Huckaby and Frank Huckaby; four sisters in law, Phyllis Huckaby, Grace Huckaby, Donna Huckaby and Laura Huckaby.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the First Apostolic Church in New Castle with Reverends J.D .Beck Sr. and Roger Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
