Esther N. Taylor, 95, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at The Addison Place in New Castle where she resided. She was born on February 17, 1930, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Estell O. and Rachel (Perdue) Neal.

Esther graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1949. She worked at Hunter and Hunter Law Office in New Castle for several years and then worked at First National Bank and Bank One in New Castle. She had also worked at Sears and Roebuck and Delco Remy for a short time.

She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, and her life motto was God first in everything she did. She enjoyed catering weddings, painting, drawing, and crafting. She took lessons and learned to play the banjo and dulcimer, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She enjoyed shopping for antiques, and especially liked shopping at Goodwill. Traveling in her RV, especially to Myrtle Beach, was one of her greatest loves.

She is survived by her son, Donnie (Linda) Taylor of Ocala, FL; a grandson, Bryant (Patty) Taylor of Middletown; a granddaughter, Reeca (John) Province of New Castle; great grandchildren, Ethan and Ava Taylor, both of Middletown; sister and brother-in-law, Sonja and Earl Wilkinson of New Castle; a special daughter in law, Beth Workman; brother-in-law, Marlin (Mary Ann) Taylor of MI; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald O. Taylor in 2017; sisters, Nona Ellen Neal, Ilie Hudson, Ina Hall, Belva Brummett, Dorothy Dunn, Dixie Spurlock, and Brenda K. Neal; brothers, Rillie Neal, Ray Neal and Oliver Neal.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle with Earl Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to Esther’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org. Condolences and memories of Esther may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
