Eugene Harold Dudley, 94, of Carthage, went to be with Lord on April 23, 2022. He was a cheerful man who could always bring a smile to your face without trying. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.
He was born October 27, 1927 in Henry County to Albert and Nellie (Tracy) Dudley.
Eugene graduated from Kennard High School in 1945, and married Patty Alexander in 1948. He was a farmer until 1954 when he went to the Army. He was a 501 heavy equipment machinist and was stationed in France from 1954 to 1956 with an honorable discharge as an E3. He retired from John Deere in 1987 after 30 years. He was a member of Carthage Methodist Church before transferring to Center Christian Church. Eugene was well known for his woodworking skills throughout the church and the community.
Eugene was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Alexander in 1979 and second wife, Frances L. Morgan in 2010. He is survived by his special friend, Mary Frost, 94 of Morristown Manor, and 6 step children: David M. Morgan of Milford, Linda S. (Morgan) Weaver of Lebanon, Nancy (Morgan) Erwin, husband Bill of Knightstown, Beth (Morgan) Andrews, husband Cassil of Mays, Mary (Morgan) Brown of Arcadia, Ellen (Morgan) Scott of Fortville. He had 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 27 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the U.S.Army. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service.
