New Castle

Staff Sargeant Floyd H. Wilkinson, 73, a resident of New Castle passed away Monday, August 17, 2026 at Majestic Care of Connersville. He was born July 31, 1953 in New Castle to Charles E. and Dona (Kendall) Wilkinson.

Floyd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring on July 31, 2013. He later retired from AutoZone and O’Riley Auto Parts stores in New Castle. A mechanic, he fixed small engines out of his home. Floyd Graduated from Chrysler High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in automotive mechanics from Ivy Tech. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed building models, working on cars, cooking shows and making breakfast nearly every day. Floyd was a collector of Hot Wheels and going to play BINGO at the Elks Lodge with his wife.

A very giving person, he was always willing to help anyone in need. Floyd’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him his greatest joy and he cherished the time he spent with them. He was equally proud of being a family man. His biggest achievement was said to have been teaching a hard headed Italian woman how to drive in her 30’s.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Linda J. (Hood) Wilkinson, whom he married March 3, 1973 in Temple Baptist Church; three daughters: Belinda (Johnny) Choina, Tracy (Jeff) McCarter and Torie (Tom) Fulmer, all of Liberty; nine grandchildren: Todd, William, Kaitlin, Shelby, Destiney, Kara, Jacobb and Leviticus; twenty-three great-grandchildren; siblings: Phillip Kissinger, George, Charles, Terry and Ronald Wilkinson and Mary McCorkhill; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Marjorie Ann; a grandson Cory Alan and a sister: Dona Finney.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Majestic Care of Connersville and Southern Care Hospice of Muncie for their excellent care given to Floyd.
