Gertrude Gleneva (Potter) Dellinger, age 90, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born May 23, 1935 in Morgan County, Tennessee to the late Homer and Alvertia (Bishop) Potter.
Gertrude was a graduate from Sunbright High School before coming to New Castle. She was employed by Public Service, New Castle Schools but retired from Smith Jewelers in 2000 then continued working part time for another 15 years. Her most important job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She married John R. Dellinger on April 5, 1958. To this union was born three sons, Trent, Paul and Mark. Gertrude was a faithful, longtime member of Whittier Lane Baptist Church and loved to cook, sew, read, make wall hangings and baby quilts to give as gifts.
She is survived by her sons, Trent (Missy) Dellinger and Mark (Lori) Dellinger; grandchildren, Amber Altic, Christy (Scott) Decker, Nathan Dellinger, Rebekah (Kyle) Fitzwater, Jacob (Katasha) Dellinger, Harlie Anne Dellinger and Jonathan (Hannah) Dellinger; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Camille, Deagon, Tyler, Taylor, Mark, Evelyn, Jude, Clayton, Annalie, Lindsay, Jason, Joab and Joanna; Former daughter-in-law, Annette (Jim) Wells; brother-in-law, Tom Dellinger; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Dellinger; a son, Paul Dellinger; great grandson, Cole; and two brothers, Homer (Wilma) Potter and Curtis (Janis) Potter.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jonathan Dellinger officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
