Glen Davis, 87, peacefully passed away at his home on October 30, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and deeply loved his family, faith, friends, his dogs, running, and sports. Before crossing the final finish line into Heaven, his last words to his son a few days prior were “Keep your eyes on Jesus”.
Glen was born on May 4, 1938 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Edward and Edna Davis. He has been a resident of New Castle for 76 years. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1956. He served in the Army from 1961-63, serving one year in Korea. He retired in 1999 from Chrysler after 34 years.
Glen was an avid runner. He began running at age 40 to get healthy. He ran countless 5K’s and half-marathons, and at least 28 marathons, including the prestigious Boston Marathon, and was the winner of his age group in almost all of his races. Most people in town knew him as the man running in the streets all over town and the county roads in rain, shine, or snow. He continued to run until he was 76 years-old, when his body told him it was time to stop. His family takes solace in the fact that he will now be able to run for eternity in the streets of gold.
Throughout his life, Glen was actively involved in the community. He was a member of First Baptist Church, secretary and member of the UAW bowling league, a Little League coach, Optimist Basketball coach, member of Road Runners running club, and a fixture at Trojan basketball games with a group of his lifelong friends. He was a dedicated fan of IU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds.
Glen is survived by his wife, Fay; daughter, Gina Petrich (Dan); son, Chad Davis; stepdaughters, Amy Cooper and Melissa McCorkle; sisters, Stella Donica and Joyce Davis; grandchildren, Halie, Hannah, Cloie, Cade, Jared (Samantha), Emma, Caygan, Mitchell, Ian and Caytlyne; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Honey & Rusty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Donica.
