Glenda “Sue” Charles, 77, formerly of New Castle passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born January 31, 1948 in New Castle to Ora and Sarah (Haney) Egan.
Sue was employed as a property manager for 50 years at various locations. Most recently she worked at Sugarbush Apartments in Muncie, where they treated her like family. Sue enjoyed visiting the casino and, in her earlier years, loved traveling, camping and cooking. She loved the Lord and had a great amount of faith. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
Survivors include four children: Tracy Frost of Muncie, Angi Smith of New Castle, Erica Charles of Muncie and Aaron (Kelli) Charles of Muncie; grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Dile, Shane Gebhart (fiancé: Dez Reff), Shelby Gebhart, Kayla (Levi) Helton and Jake Frost; grandchildren: Isabella Smith, Braydon and Brody Blaylock, McKinzie, DJ and Colton Charles; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Wayne and Rick Egan and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Michael Coomer; granddaughter: Layla Helton; sister-in-law: Linda Egan and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in New Castle with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St, Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 32121 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073 or Mt.
