Hazel Glenda Mason, 95, peacefully took the Hand of Jesus early on Wednesday morning October 15, 2025, at her home of over 50 years in Mt. Summit surrounded by her family. She was born on February 25, 1930, in Albany, KY to the late Lewis and Anna Mae (Hurt) Cole.
Glenda was a wonderful homemaker, she loved cooking, gardening and taking care of her flowers. She spent many years babysitting for the kids in the Mt. Summit area. Glenda was an amazing seamstress and artist; she even had one of her paintings featured in the Her magazine of Henry County. She enjoyed traveling and stopping at Buc-ees during her trips. Glenda loved life and being with her family, she was always fun to be around.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Poe, Trina (Brett) Estes and Tammy (Terry) Reid; son-in-law, Carmelo Malpica; grandchildren, Marcy (James) Parish, Stephanie (Archie) Pemberton, Aaron (Tawni) McGee, Carmela (Maurice) Williams, Carmelo (Jessica) Malpica Jr. and Karrisa (Troy) Parker; many great and great-great grandchildren; brother, Dale (Mary) Cole; special friend and care giver, Grace Reece; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Glenda is preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Upchurch; second husband, Beecher Mason; daughter, Kerry Malpica; sisters, Janet Murphy and Joyce Lane Rayburn.
Services for Glenda will be on Saturday October 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Cross Road Church 2748 N State Road 3, New Castle, IN 47362 with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday October 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
