Herbert R. "Jerry" Edwards

Herbert R. “Jerry” Edwards, 98, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Hancock Regional Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on November 22, 1926 in McCordsville, a son of the late Fletcher Ward and Florence Mae (Kimberlin) Edwards.

Jerry attended Eden High School prior to becoming a 1944 graduate of Carthage High School, where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Army. Over the years, Jerry had been employed with a Kraft milk route for 14 years, Carthage Container Corporation of America for 11 years, and retired from Indiana Gas as a meter reader following 20 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church and later attended the Carthage Community Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends, going out to eat, watching the Reds and Colts, fishing and enjoying cruises with his wife, Joyce.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Carol (David Upton) Edwards and Sandy Edwards; grandchildren, Taylor Edwards, Lindsay Edwards, Robbie Edwards, Ashley (Joe) Heller; siblings, Rex (Linda) Edwards and Dorothy Robertson; daughter in law, Mary Edwards; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce N. Edwards; son, Larry Edwards; siblings, Velma Leisure, Norman Edwards, Carl Edwards, Maxine Carson and Paul Edwards.

Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, September 15, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Roger Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
