Homer Glenn Winchester, 86, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the Waters Edge Village in Muncie, IN. He was born on August 11, 1938, to the late Eulon and Treva (Gossage) Winchester.
His journey began in Eadsville, Kentucky, where he graduated from Wayne County High School, before eventually marrying his high school sweetheart in 1962. In 1965, Homer made the move to Indiana, where he would spend the rest of his time and raised his family.
Homer dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career, initially working for Dana Corporation until its closure. He then spent about a decade driving a semi. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961, showcasing his commitment to his country and exemplifying the values of service and dedication.
Homer was known for his kind and friendly demeanor. He had an easy-going approach to life that endeared him to many. With a quick wit and a delightful sense of humor, he could connect with anyone, whether it be in a casual conversation with a stranger in a motel parking lot or a friendly chat with a neighbor. His kindness extended beyond mere words; he was a good neighbor who frequently cleared snow off driveways and assisted elderly neighbors with their mail.
In his spare time, Homer enjoyed fishing, relished riding his bike, and often took peaceful naps in front of the garage. He was also a fan of IU basketball during the legendary Bob Knight era.
