Jackie “Jack” D. Ward, 70, of New Castle passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born on April 3, 1956, in New Castle to the late Harold J. and Regena (Prater) Ward Sr.
Jack was a 1974 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School. A retired Dispatcher where he worked for many years at Henry and Shelby County Dispatch Centers. Jack became an EMT and owned K&W Ambulance Service from 1984 until 2000. He truly had a heart for helping others, he was always there for his family and friends as well as his community.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed going camping, hunting and fishing. A gun enthusiast, Jack loved collecting and shooting guns. When it came to Sci-Fi Jack was truly a Nerd, he loved watching movies, reading, studying space, aviation and photography.
Jack was a great cook but didn’t hesitate to jump in the car and drive for hours to try out a new restaurant. Above all things, Jack loved his family with all he had to give. All will miss his sense of humor, joke telling and imitating the bird.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jessica (Dennis) Lytle; grandchildren, Paityn, Jaxton, Colton Dean, Ander and Abel; sister, Marilyn (Marvin) Ward-Humbles; his beloved dog, Kimber; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ward; siblings, Harold J. (Brenda) Ward Jr., Carolyn Wilson and John David Ward.
Services will be on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of the service.
