Middletown

Jackie Murl “Jack” Neal, 77, of Middletown passed away surrounded by the love of his children on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was born May 14, 1948 in Clinton County, Kentucky, a son of the late Henry Murl “Steve” and Mollie “Ethel” (Tuggle) Neal.

Jack dedicated his life to racing, his family, and his business, Motion Motors. His love for cars and racing began at a very young age, where his enthusiasm for speed and engines quickly grew into a lifelong passion. He made a huge contribution to racing for over four decades as a driver, and has spent every decade after helping the veterans of the sport and rookies—everyone. He’s done a lot for the sport over the years. He was a talented competitor behind the wheel, nicknamed “The Outlaw” #17, taking several pole positions, victories, and championships at Mt. Lawn, Anderson, Muncie, Winchester, and Salem Speedways. For a brief period, Neal raced alongside his sons, Tim and Scott, both following in their father’s footsteps as champions.

Survivors include his three sons; Tim Neal of Anderson, Scott (Kacey) Neal of Alexandria, and Ryan (Whitney) Draper of Springport; four daughters; Jami (Jason) Hamel of Pendleton, Denell (Ryan) Gedek of Middletown, Lori Kampfer (Martin) of Leawood, KS, and Lisa (Robert) Donndelinger of Ft. Walton, FL; grandchildren, Jason Neal, Samantha Neal, Wesley Castor, Cody Hamel, Ashley Kampfer, Cody Sewell, Kaleb Castor, Savannah Hamel, Zackery Gedek, Kirsten Donndelinger, Cole Draper, and Emma Draper; several great-grandchildren; lifelong buddy and partner in crime, Dennis Allman; long-time friend, Darrell Draper; furry companion, Bear.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn Neal, his first wife, Charlotte Neal; his brother Henry Neal; sisters, Ruth Davis, Juanita Duncan, and Janet Duvall.
