Jacqueline Sue Cross, 95, of Mooreland passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Waters of New Castle. She was born September 20, 1930 in Muncie to the late Vergil “Barney” and Edna (Smith) Black.

Sue was a 1948 graduate of Muncie Central High School, where she was a cheerleader. Loving to tap dance and swing dance, Sue met her husband at a dance. She was employed at Farmers Elevator in Oakville as an administrative assistant from 1964 – 1995. Sue was a member of the Home Economics Club near Blountsville. She was also a member of Buck Creek Church of the Brethren. While Sue had many hobbies, shopping was always at the top of the list. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and loved her flowers. She was a cake decorator and loved baking and cooking. She could often be found searching for a bargain, especially at Costco and Sam's Club.

She is survived by a son, Alan (Pamela) Cross of Mooreland; a daughter, Susie (Kevin) Were of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Eric (Wife: Lyndie) Were of Dallas, TX and Kaley Were (husband: Benjamin Camenzuli) of New York, NY; two great-grandsons who were the light of her life, Henry and Charlie Were; a sister, Patti Warner of Yorktown and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Lincoln Lee Cross on March 19, 2007.

Jaqueline’s family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the Waters of New Castle and Henry Community Health Hospice.

A private graveside service was held at Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
