James A. Barkley

James A. “Jimmy” Barkley, 86, of New Castle passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Willows of New Castle. He was born on May 31, 1939 in New Castle to Clarence and Mildred (Tout) Barkley.

Jimmy graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1957 where he received several trophies for track. Jimmy enlisted in the National Guard and retired after serving for 20 years. He was employed by the City of New Castle at the Water Department and retired after 30 years of service. Jimmy’s hobbies included detailing cars and spending time with his family

Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his wife of 57 years, Karlotta (Castle) Barkley; his sons, Chris Barkley and Terry Barkley.

He is preceded in death by a son Robbie Barkley and a brother, Clarence Barkley.

Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Danny Douglas and Jeff Green officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. He will be buried at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition at a later date.
