James "Jim" E. Boyles

November 10, 1945 — February 23, 2024

James “Jim” E. Boyles went home to be with Jesus at 5:05AM on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born on November 10, 1945 to Omer and Marie (Waters) Boyles. He was the middle of twelve children.

Jim graduated from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School in 1965. As a young teen, he attended First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle, IN. After he graduated high school, Jim joined the US Army where he served for three years; one at Fort Knox KY, one in Viet Nam and one at Fort George G. Meade MD. While serving in MD, he was married to his wife of 55 years, Glenna M. (Raybourn) Boyles.

After leaving the Army, he went to work at Dana Corporation where he worked for 21 years. After the factory closed, Jim became a CNA and worked at Holly Hills Nursing Home. He moved to Indianapolis in 1993 where he worked several places including Dow Agriscience and finally retired from HH Gregg in 2013. After retiring, Jim worked for LCP driving Individuals to and from doctor’s appointments.

In 1968, he became a member of Spiceland Church of the Nazarene where he taught junior boys Sunday school class and drove the Sunday school bus and the church van. Jim is now a member of the Brownsburg Church of the Nazarene where he drove the Sunday school bus, has server as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and is currently a member of the church board. He will be missed because he was loved by all he met.

Jim enjoyed reading, doing craft projects and dressing up as HOBO JOE for Halloween and to go to the nursing homes and entertain the residents. Most of all, he enjoys telling jokes. He will be missed by everyone for his joke telling.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Glenna (Raybourn) Boyles; a son, Aaron Boyles and a daughter, Elisabeth Gouker; two grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Gouker of West Mifflin, PA; brothers, Raymond (Joyce) Boyles and Jess (Rosemary) Boyles, both of New Castle, IN; nieces, Rose, Linda, Betty, Pam, Sarah, Angie, Amanda, Kayla and a nephew, Chris; also several great-nieces
