James "Jimmy" Briar

James “Jimmy” Mitchell Bryant Briar, 31, of New Castle passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was born August 2, 1995 in Richmond, Indiana.

A proud 2014 graduate of Tri High School, Jimmy left behind a legacy of warmth, skill, and unwavering loyalty. During his school years, he stayed active playing football and weightlifting, but his true passions extended far beyond the field. A talented handyman who could fix just about anything, Jimmy also had a deep love for cooking, perfected through the high school Culinary Arts Program. Known for his great sense of humor and love of music, he was the kind of loyal friend who would gladly give you the shirt off his back to ensure you were taken care of. Above all, Jimmy had a special gift for bringing joy to others, shining brightest when he was spending time with children—most notably his beloved nieces and Athena.

He is survived by his father, Kevin Briar; siblings, Amanda (Jacob) Kincade, Joseph (Alexis) Briar and Courtney Briar (Jake Denney); nieces, Audrey Frisbie, Viola Kincade and Ella Briar; maternal grandmother, Judy Nunley and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Regina L. (Nunley) Briar; paternal grandparents, Dean and Diana Briar; maternal grandfather, Francis Nunley and an uncle, Bryon House.

A time to gather will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service starting at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Grace Baptist Church, 2649 Q. Ave. New Castle, IN 47362 with Pastor Bill Keen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Guest House, 1407 Walnut St. New Castle, IN 47362.
