James W. Hope

James W. Hope, 85, of Knightstown passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at his residence. He was born in June 23, 1941 in Butler County, Kentucky.

Jim graduated from Wood High School and worked at MeadWestvaco in Indianapolis for over 40 years, making envelopes. He was happily married to Janet Hope for more than 57 years. Known as the nicest person anyone could meet, he was faithful, loving, and always ready to help others. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of the Knightstown American Legion and Knightstown Friends Church. He enjoyed going to garage sales and collected many interesting items, which he fondly called "antiques." His big heart touched everyone around him.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Parker (Madison) Barrett and Taylor McFerran and a great granddaughter, Harper Barrett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Janet Hope; a daughter, Melissa Erwin; a sister and his beloved Corky the Corgi, which he treated like a son.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor John Heim officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery with military honors rendered by contingents from the U.S. Navy and the Knightstown American Legion.
