James Edward Jackson

Feb 16, 1949 — Jun 24, 2026

Wilkinson

James “Jim” Edward Jackson, 77, of Wilkinson, passed away surrounded by his family on June 24, 2026. He was born on February 16, 1949, in Shelbyville, IN, to the late Charles and Joyce (Robertson) Jackson.

A proud 1968 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School, Jim found fulfillment in serving others and often put the needs of his friends, neighbors, and local organizations before his own. He spent many years as a volunteer firefighter in Charlottesville. Jim was also a familiar face at the Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp, where he devoted his time and energy, many time teaching kids to fish.

For a brief amount of time, Jim worked in insurance sales before beginning his distinguished 25 years career as a corrections officer at the Pendleton Reformatory.

Deeply rooted in Hancock County, Jim was an active member of the Cattlemen’s Association, and in his younger years, he raised pigs and later cattle. Those who knew Jim also remember his love for the outdoors; he found joy in hunting, fishing, raising dogs, and woodworking. Trips to Canada and Lake Erie were sources of particular delight and lasting memories. Jim was known for his helpful, giving, and caring personality. Alongside his beloved wife, Ann Jackson, Jim regularly attended Wilkinson Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Ann Jackson; children, Jerod (Lori) Jackson and Jason (Amanda) Jackson; step son, David (Carolyn) Muegge; grandchildren, Shelby Jackson, Jacob Jackson, Gage Jackson, and Peyton Jackson; siblings, Linda (David) Holliday, Joe (Sheryl) Jackson, and Jerry (Tami) Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Robertson.
