James John Williams, Sr.

James John Williams, Sr., 81, of Greenfield, passed away on September 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1945, in Perry County, KY, to the late Joseph and Maggie (Baker) Williams.

James lived a life marked by steady work, deep love for his family, and a quiet, humble spirit. He worked as a crane operator for 45 years at Roll Coater in Greenfield. Those who knew him knew him as a hard worker, a sweetheart, and a funny man whose gentle way left a lasting impression.

James was a member of the Knightstown Church of God. He found joy in simple and familiar things. He loved to mow, enjoyed squirrel and rabbit hunting, and took pleasure in gardening. He also had a special fondness for Frosted Flakes cereal, one of the many small things that made him memorable to the people who loved him. He was playful and affectionate and was known for giving nicknames to his children and family.

Above all, James loved his family tremendously. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply, and he carried great love for his late wife throughout his life. He was also known as a perfect big brother, and he was very appreciative of the love and care that was given to him by his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kathy “Uggs” (Bill) Wheelock, James “Bozer” (Tia “Crazy”) Williams, Jr., Christina “Chrissy Booger” Isaacs, and Regina “Weez Pea” (Terry) Owens; grandchildren, Becca Wheelock, David Wheelock, Amber Kavanaaugh, Matt (Spencer) Foster, and Nick Owens; great grandchildren, Naudia Beech, Natalie Beech, Norah Kavanaugh, and Banks Foster; and his sister, Ruby Pickard.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 47 years, Rebecca Williams; his son in law, Jack Isaacs; and his siblings, Donna Eversole, Kurt Eversole, Rita Stephens, Christine Williams, Polly Oliver, and Glenna Combs.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown, with Pastor Tim Denney officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Knightstown Church of God at 405 E. North St. Knightstown, IN 46148.
