Jody Scott Gwinn, age 56, of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on December 1, 1969, in New Castle, a son of the late Vernon T. Gwinn and Phyllis Ann (Griffin) Gwinn.
Jody was a 1989 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He had been employed by Delaware Tool & Die in Muncie, where he worked as a tool and die maker and CNC machine operator. Jody truly loved his job and took great pride in his work.
Family meant everything to Jody. He never missed a family gathering and had a heart of gold. He especially loved helping and caring for his parents. Jody had a strong interest in engineering and science and was a great conversationalist who enjoyed talking with people, even discussing a good conspiracy theory. He also enjoyed working on his car and helping others fix theirs. Jody was truly a man of many trades, and if something couldn’t be fixed, he would always find a way.
In his younger years, Jody enjoyed riding his bicycle and performing tricks.
He is survived by his loving mother, Phyllis Ann Gwinn of New Castle; son, Zach Gwinn of Ohio; siblings, Timothy Lee (Billie) Gwinn of New Castle, Rick Allen (Marjorie) Gwinn of Palos Verdes Estates, California and Rebecca Lynn Fitzgerald of Greenfield; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon T. Gwinn.
