John F. Munden, 91, of Carthage passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Morristown Manor. He was born on November 11, 1933 in Shelby County, IN a son of the late Loren and Ruth E. (White) Munden.
A 1952 graduate of Carthage High School, John went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Upon returning home, he dedicated over 30 years of service to the Rush County Highway Department. In addition to his career, John was a devoted part-time farmer who took great pride in working the land and spending time on his home farm. He found joy in simply driving around the property, soaking in the peace of nature and watching the wildlife.

He treasured the slower pace of life, filled with the companionship of his beloved dog, Holly, and cherished moments attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Fishing with his buddies from the highway department was one of his favorite pastimes, and he valued those friendships deeply.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Bruce Munden of Greenfield, Dale (Lou) Munden of Arcadia, Diana (Tony) Fultz of Carthage, and Beth (Dave) Back of Carthage; seven grandchildren, Brooke (Jon-Eric) McMahel of Knightstown, John (Ashley) Munden of Great Falls, MT, Ryan Fultz of Indianapolis, Jesse Munden of Kokomo, Cory Back of Alexandria, VA, Jordan Munden of Arcadia, and Casey (Kyle) Johnston of Greenfield; seven great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Boston McMahel, Evelynn, Bristol, Gentry and Hudson Munden and Chase Fultz; several nieces and nephews.
