Kathryn A. Smith

Kathryn A. (Gasser) Smith, 88 of Dunreith passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Heritage House of New Castle. She was born August 7, 1928 in Centerville, IN to the late William and Charlotte (Schuneman) Gasser.

Kathryn enjoyed being a homemaker and spent much of her time cooking and baking for her family, especially the grandchildren whom she loved so much. She also loved working in her flower gardens.

Kathryn is survived by her husband AC Smith and recently celebrated 69 years of marriage; two sons, Cleatus (Linda) Smith of New Castle; Dale Smith of Knightstown; one daughter, Jan (Gary) McDaniel of Dunreith; siblings, Max Gasser and Alice Osborn; sister-in-law, Jane Gasser; grandchildren, Valerie Smith of Greensburg; Martin (Portia) Smith of Middletown; Nikki (Joel) Salinas of Indianapolis; Ryan (Alissa) Smith of Knightstown; Sara (Adam) Hollars of Spiceland; Eric (Mandy) McDaniel of Knightstown; Stacie (Rob) Chesher of New Castle; seventeen great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Keith Gasser; daughter-in-law Kathie Smith; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Gasser and Rilda
Gasser.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with her grandson Eric McDaniel and great-grandson Brayden McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 27th at the funeral home.
