Kathy Claywell

Kathy Claywell, 67, of Anderson passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born April 17, 1958 in New Castle to the late Robert and Shirley (Oldham) Claywell.

Kathy was a 1977 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. After graduation she attended Hyles-Anderson Christian College in Merrillville, Indiana where she earned and associates degree in law. She was the first person in her family to attend college. She started working at a very early age to provide for her family. Kathy was employed as a paralegal with Kirkland and Ellis Law Firm in Chicago. When Kathy was young, she was involved with missionary work in Chicago. She was very committed to this and rode the bus back and forth from New Castle to Chicago regularly. Kathy met her husband in Chicago. Some of Kathy’s hobbies included watching movies, reading, dancing, canning, and trying new foods. She also enjoyed hunting for a good bargain at rummage sales and Goodwill. Kathy truly loved her dog, Lincoln.

Those left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her son, Sarwan Khan (Veronica) from Chicago; 2 grandchildren, Estelle and another boy in March; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, November 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Herbkersman. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-2132, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
