Kenneth H. "Kenny" Thornburg, 71, formerly of Spiceland, passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2026, in Huntington, Indiana. He was born February 9, 1955, in New Castle, Indiana, 

A 1973 graduate of Tri High School, Kenny embarked on a remarkable career that began immediately after graduation at Guide Lamp. His steadfast commitment and skill carried him through a 33-year tenure at General Motors in Fort Wayne, from which he retired in 2008.

Kenny was renowned among friends and family as "Gnarly," a nickname that reflected his zest for life and his adventurous spirit. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and an active member of ABATE, where he embraced the brotherhood and joy of riding. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion in Huntington and the Rose City Rods Car Club, communities where he found friendship and shared interests.

Beyond his passion for vehicles and motorcycles, Kenny was a cherished event DJ, bringing music and life to numerous gatherings. His love for show cars, movies, and television series enriched both his life and those around him. He also relished the simple pleasure of dining out, enjoying good company and conversation.

Kenny’s legacy is carried forward by a devoted family and a close-knit circle of friends. He is survived by his mother, Monrie "Sue" Jarvis Thornburg; sister Jennifer (Matt) Wolski; brother Pat (Amie) Thornburg, all of Spiceland; nieces and nephews Will Wolski, Emily (Taylor) Catron, Lindsey (Joel) Wicker—and great-nieces and nephews Dorothy Wolski, Jackson Wicker, and Violet Catron. Kenny also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as longtime friends Curtis Jarrett, Scott Hughes, and Bob Meier.

He was preceded in death by his father William H. Thornburg; infant sister, Penny Thornburg; maternal grandparents Arthur H. and Neta Jarvis; paternal grandparents William S. and Thelma I. Thornburg; Aunt Oleta Jarvis, Aunt Bonnie Thornburg of Missouri, Aunt Sue Ellen Thornburg and Uncle Jim Thornburg.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. This will be followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM Saturday with Pastor Dustin Chew officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery, Spiceland.
