Kimberly Denise Phelps, 62, of Indianapolis and formerly of Knightstown, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital following a year long battle with cancer. She was born May 11, 1960 in New Castle to David A. and Priscilla F. Phelps.
Kim was a 1979 graduate of Knightstown High School where she was active and excelled in many sports. She later went on to graduate from Ball State University majoring in Political Science. She was active in politics and enjoyed working at the polls every election. Following graduation, she worked at State Farm Insurance then started her own business, Phelps & Associates Financial Planning. Kim was a former member and baptized at Knightstown Christian Church and after moving to Indianapolis, she attended East 91st Street Christian Church. She enjoyed various book clubs and participating in the BSU Alumni Association. Most of all, Kim loved spending all holiday functions and every other chance she had with her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, David A. and Priscilla F. Phelps of Knightstown, sisters, Teresa (John) Boyd of Maryland, Sherry Boudoin of Indianapolis and Kelly Barksdale of Fishers; sister in law, Judy Phelps of Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her twin brother, David, in 2006.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Keston Emanuel Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
