Laura Jean Gold

Laura Jean Gold, 83, a resident of New Castle passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at Henry Community Health. She was born September 25, 1942 to Raymond McGary and Mary (Wolfe) Hedrick.

Laura was a special needs aid at both Green Street School and the Seventh-Grade Building. She was also employed at Harvest Market as a cashier for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed playing BINGO, slot machines and scratch-offs. Laura also enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking pies and cookies. Above all, she loved spending time and taking care of her family.

Survivors include her children: Tenisa “Terry” (Joe) Pyle of Losantville and Rick Gold (Jamie Martin) of New Castle; grandchildren: Amy (Rob) Greenway, Jessica Gold (Josh Henderson), Heather Lynn (Kyle) Cook, Cole (Emma) Smith, Christopher Gold, Rosie Smith, Bradley (Brittany) Pyle, April Gaston and Maddy Gold; great-grandchildren: Jadelynn, Ryland, Faith, Lyla, Hadley, Veda, and Dominick; sister: Maryetta Thurman of New Castle; a cousin who was like a sister: Carol Ann Stults; several nieces and nephews and her dog, Daisy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: Jerry C. Gold.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Little Blessings, 2915 S. 14th St., New Castle, In 47362.
