Lawrence “Richard” Hobbs, age 83, of New Castle, IN, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2026.
Born on June 8, 1942, Richard lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, sharp wit, and devotion to his family. Known to many as Richard or Dick, he was a man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for all things western and horses, he enjoyed Nascar and restoring street rods but most of all he enjoyed time outdoors with his family.
Richard spent his career at General Motors where he was respected for his dedication and nose to the grindstone work ethic. Richard loved to share stories and make unforgettable memories with all he came in contact with.
He is survived by his children, Kelle (Marc) Humphries, Kristi Hobbs, Rich (Kristina) Hobbs; and his cherished grandchildren Tabitha (Kyle) Huff, Kassie (Mark) O’Driscoll, Abbi (Will) Hayes, Trace Knox, Tanner (Alex) Green, Jacob (Jenna) Hobbs, Matthew (Bri) Hobbs, Maverick (Nicole) Winchester, Dillion Winchester, and Vance Peavler. Richard also had 17 great grandchildren, whom he adored.
Richard is also survived by sisters, Peggy Badgley, Sandra Anderson, and Connie Thomas, along with one brother, Terry (Kathy) Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Hobbs, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He will be deeply missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace with our Lord. A visitation will be held on Monday January 19, 2026 from 3pm -5 pm with services starting at 5:00 p.m. at Open arms Church in New Castle, Indiana.
