Lawrence “Larry” M. Rumple, 66, of Knightstown passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born on January 17, 1955 in Rushville, a son of the late Jesse F. Rumple Sr. and Emma Jean (Adams) Rumple of Carthage.
Family! Larry’s family meant the world to him. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews especially while playing and swimming in the pool. Larry was the best husband a woman could ever ask for, loved a good laugh and really loved people in general, which is a testament to why he served as an emergency services first responder for 35 years. Following thirty plus years of service, Larry retired from the Town of Knightstown where he was assigned to the Street Department for several years and the Electric Department as foreman, prior to retirement. Larry also served on the Knightstown Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years. Carpentry was a passion for Larry as he built his current home from the ground up. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife Connie; he really enjoyed the ocean and mountains best of all. Larry also enjoyed dancing, trains and model railroading.
In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Rumple of Knightstown; siblings, Frank Rumple of Rushville, Margie Smith of Ogden, Edna (Pat) Partlow of Knightstown, Sherry (Gary) Williams of Carthage, Sandy Jackson of Carthage, Jesse (fiancé, Jennifer) Rumple Jr. of Carthage; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan (Steve) Dick of Carthage, Jeannie (Jeff) Sorrell of Carthage, Steve (companion, Elizabeth) Hilderbrand of Carthage, Scott (companion, Lou Ann)Hilderbrand of Carthage; 26 beloved nieces and nephews whom Larry was a Godfather to many and also several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Carl Smith and his father and mother-in-law, Romey and Vada Hilderbrand.
