Linda Darlene (Benedict) Massengale

Linda Darlene (Benedict) Massengale, 73, a resident of New Castle passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born August 14, 1950 in New Castle to the late John and Hilda (Windmiller) Benedict.
The youngest of the Benedict Clan, Linda was born and raised in the Benedict Home on Wilbur Wright Road in Blountsville, IN. She attended Blountsville Grade School and graduated from Union High School. After her son, Elvis was born in 1972, she moved to Muncie, IN where she worked as a baby sitter, house cleaner and sewed Halloween costumes. A very gifted artist, especially with sketches, she has won many first prizes for her awards. She was able to travel with her friends and spent two years in Selma, OR in 1988. She also lived in Eustis, FL for 3 years before moving back to Muncie in 1996 for the birth of her granddaughter. Linda enjoyed playing BINGO, watching television and shopping at Goodwill. She loved her babies and grandbabies and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially cooking for get-togethers.
Survivors include a son: Elvis (Sherrie) Massengale of Martinsville; a granddaughter: Emilee Massengale of Martinsville; three great-grandchildren: Connor, Jessica and Adalynn Jarrett; siblings: Don (Carolyne) Benedict of Hagerstown, sisters: Rose Mastin of New Castle, Shirley (Hank) Gray of Mt. Summit and Augusta Lindsey of Losantville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Albert, Ronnie and Harold Benedict; four sisters: Helen Litton, Mildred Adkins, Emma Massengale Pat Healton and an infant great-grandson: Levi.
A Celebration of Life for the family will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Condolences and memories of Linda may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com .
