Linda K. Roll

Linda K. Roll, 84, formerly of New Castle, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital. She was born December 3, 1940 in New Castle to the late Basil and Lillian (Werking) Johnson.

Linda retired from RCA Corporation in 1988 after nearly 20 years of service. She also worked at Marsh Corp. where she ran the salad bar for many years. A devoted fan of the Pacers, Colts, and Fever, she also loved attending hockey games and sprint car races. She had a passion for cruises, road trips, camping, and bird-watching, and was a big fan of Elvis and Michael Jackson. Most of all, Linda cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Herschel Roll, whom she married February 5, 1977; three children: Timothy (Carolyn) Clapp of Mt. Summit, Steve Clapp of New Castle and Terry “Bunk” Clapp of Lawrence; three siblings: Lorretta Collier and Mickey Johnson, both of Anderson and Barbara Maynard of Brownsburg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Kristi (Clapp) Alkire and a sister: Rita Greenwood.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
