Loran Spence

Loran Spence, 78, of Monticello, KY passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was born April 10, 1947 in Carthage, the son of Ezra and Nola (Logan) Spence.

Loran was a 1965 graduate of Carthage High School. He grew up in the family timber business and enjoyed working with wood. Loran enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, motorcycles and side-by-sides, riding trails and was an avid fisherman. He had a passion for restoring Pontiac GTO’s. He also owned his own car lot. Loran and Judy loved taking fishing trips together.

Loran is survived by his children, Laura Spence of Carthage, Michael (Darla) Spence of New Castle and Brian Spence of Monticello, KY; grandchildren, Christopher, Jerrod, Daniel, Elizabeth, Tiffany, Joseph, Hunter, Haiden, Ericka, Leanna, Kylee, Kalen and Kody; ten great grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Russell) Kline; brother, Larry (Lisa) Spence; sister-in-law: Norma Jean Kenny; brother-in-law, Larry (Ginny) Marsh; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Judy) Spence.

Services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, December 19, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Dean Logan officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage.
