Loren C. Lovegrove

Loren C. Lovegrove, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at IUH Ball Hospital. He was born July 24, 1935 in Butlerville, Indiana.

Loren served his country from 1966-1987, retiring from the US Navy Seabees as a heavy equipment operator. He later retired from the US Postal Service where he served as project manager and manager of plant maintenance in Muncie and Indianapolis. In his earlier years he worked in construction with his brother-in-law. Loren was a faithful member of the Foursquare Church and Monroe Township Conservation Club. He was very involved in missionary work including a trip to Nigeria. Loren enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, music and playing the guitar. More than anything, he loved the Lord, his wife, and spending time with his family and Batdog.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Lela June (Padgett) Lovegrove; two daughters, Linda Joseph of Muncie and Lora (David) Holmes of Muncie, eleven grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Terry of Grand Rivers, Kentucky, Joshua (Yolanda) Lovegrove of Anderson, Shafik (Nancy) Joseph of New Castle, Melissa Ratliff of Florida, Christy Parson (Tom Heiliger) of Bloomington, Sammy (Danielle) Joseph of Muncie, Terry “TJ” (Chrystal) Lovegrove of Selma, Brandon (Jessica) Holmes of Waco, Texas, Corie Sargent of Muncie, Jeremy (Erica) Holmes of Fairlawn, Ohio and Lacey (Michael) Conley of Muncie; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Charlotte) Lovegrove of Seymour, David Lovegrove of North Vernon; sister, Kathy (Larry) Millemon of Columbus; sister-in-law, Lena Lovegrove of North Vernon; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Dica L. (Buchanan) Lovegrove, a son, Steven Lovegrove; brothers, Ronald, James, Kerry and Gerald Lovegrove; a sister, Diana Lovegrove; grandson, Jared Holmes; great grandson, Luke McGrew.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Brandon Holmes and Joey Prewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M – 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 8 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
