Loyd Thomas “Tom” Coffman, 84, of Spiceland passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1941 in Rush County, a son of Loyd and Mary Elizabeth (Lockridge) Coffman.

Tom retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson, was a Spiceland rural postal carrier and farmed in Henry County with his father for many years. A mechanic, he had worked for Wolski Brothers in Shirley. He also painted houses for his brother-in-law and was a handy man. Tom was a member of the Knightstown Masonic Lodge and the Dunreith Christian Church, where he served as church treasurer. He enjoyed deer hunting and loved attending children and grandchildren’s sporting events; he would always go early, before the school bus arrived and the popcorn was made. Tom loved his Australian Shepherds, most recently “Patton”.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Connie (Patton) Coffman of Spiceland; two children: Shar’ron (Joe) Cripps of Spiceland, and Brock (Diane) Coffman of Lewisville; grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Gump, Gee, Gumpy, Gramps, and Grandfather: Kyle Cripps (fiancé, Katie Thorne), Lacy Halcomb (companion, Josh Hardwick), Brice (Aubrey) Coffman and Bailey (Cayden) Starkey; great grandchildren: Liam and Zoe Cripps, Kendyl and Kyrie Halcomb and baby Cripps on the way, Collins, Ember and Hayze Thomas Coffman, Charlotte Elizabeth Starkey; sister: Judy Harrison of Greenfield; sister-in-law: Sue Martin of Greenfield; brother-in-law: Bill Matthews of Greenwood; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Tommye-Sue Coffman; sister: Jackie Mathews; brother-in-law: Ron Harrison; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ronnie and Barbara Patton; brother-in-law: David Martin and a nephew: Ryan Martin.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Joe McIntosh and Jack Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the Dunreith Family Christian Church, PO Box 236, Dunreith, IN 47337. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 16 with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM. Condolences and memories of Tom may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
