LuAnn Gordon, 72, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026. Born on March 29, 1954, in New Castle, Indiana, LuAnn was the daughter of the late Gene and Esther (Davis) Hunter.
LuAnn attended New Castle High School and spent her entire life devoted to her family and friends. Her family was her life and raising and caring for them was her comfort zone in life. LuAnn had a heart full of love and compassion. She never knew a stranger and always found the good in everyone she met. Her kindness, generosity, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She enjoyed crafting, was an exceptionally talented seamstress, and especially loved sewing. LuAnn dedicated more than 50 years of service to her community through her employment at Ben Franklin and later Ace Hardware before retiring.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Lynn Hill of New Castle; her son, Eric (Theresa) Gordon of New Castle; grandchildren, Teri Hill (fiancé Joe), Katie (Zach) Hill, James (Jenni) Huesman, Isiah (Brandi) Huesman, and Cassandra Huesman; great-grandchildren, Robert, Duane, Lainie, Jackson, Lilly, Jensyn, Haven, Rhoan, Quinton, Parker, Ira, Zoey, and Gunner; brothers, Lonnie (Mary) Leffew and Mark Hunter; sisters, Debbie Thornburgh and Cheryl Luera; brother-in-law, Gerald “Red” Gordon; lifelong friend, Carolyn Eaton; several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, LuAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Duane Gordon; sister, Tammy (Ed) Decker; father and mother-in-law, William and Lena Gordon.
Services will be held at 12:00pm Monday, July 13, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share memories of LuAnn at www.hinsey-brown.com.
