Lydia “Lee” Fischer, 82, formerly of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 8, 1936 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Fredrick and Sarah (Silverman) Frei.
Lee had been employed as an EMT and did home health care. She spent her summers in the High Sierras as a cook for about 5 years while living in California. She was an avid reader with an extensive library. Lee also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by five children, Sandy (Terry) Rooney of Detroit, MI, Robert (Katrina) Smith of Summerville, SC, Pat (Robert) Donoghue of Carthage, Shirley (Yancy) Colvin of Macon, GA and Cathy Gleason of Norton Shores, MI; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, William Fred Frei of CA; lifelong friend, Barbara (Robert) Fettue of Detroit, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, December 31, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Monday prior to the service. Condolences and memories of Lee may be shared at
