Marcia Kay Foulke, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at her residence. Marcia was born on May 11, 1939, in Connersville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Leroy and Olive (Newbold) Elwood.
Marcia was a graduate of New Castle High School. Throughout the years, she had lived in Connersville, New Castle, and Hagerstown and had worked at ICAP, The Courier-Times, and Reid Hospital, where she worked as a CNA during the 1970s. She also enjoyed helping her husband, Donn, with the farming.
Marcia was a caring and giving person who loved helping others and could never say no when someone needed her. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart. No matter what her family done, whether right or wrong, she was always there for support.
In her free time, Marcia enjoyed watching Fox News and game shows, particularly Let’s Make a Deal and The Price Is Right. Also, her favorite soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Marcia is survived by her children, Robert (Kimberly) Solomon of Cambridge City, Mark (April) Shafer of Hagerstown, Jennifer (Summer) Shafer of Hagerstown; grandson, Cole Solomon of Riverview, FL; granddaughters, Nickie Estes of New Castle, Shelly (Caleb) Bloom of Hagerstown, Anna Shafer of Indianapolis and Charley Rinehart of Terre Haute; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Rhodus of Hagerstown and Lisa Moore of New Castle; special friend, Clarence Plankenhorn.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Donn Foulke; daughters, Debra Solomon and Cheryl Terhaar; brothers, Joseph, Gerald and Randall Elwood; sister, Shirley Retherford.
Services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery in Hagerstown. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marcia’s honor to the Elks #649 Parkinsons Fund, 2100 US-27 Richmond, IN 47374.
