Margaret E. Warnes, 93, went home to be with her Lord early Monday morning, June 22nd, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on October 2nd, 1932, to the late Arthur (Frank) Abernathy and Hazel (Hunt) Abernathy in Randolph County. She graduated from Lynn High School in 1950 and enjoyed working at the Winchester Phone Company in the early fifties. She married W. Ray Warnes in 1955, and she and Ray lived in southern Delaware County and northern Henry County during most of their married life of 55 years. Margaret prayed that she would have several children and the Lord blessed her with five. She truly devoted her life to her family, and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She was the best example of unconditional love and devotion, and this legacy of love is both a comfort and an inspiration to her children and grandchildren she leaves behind. Those who spent time with Margaret so often mentioned that she was the kindest, sweetest person they had ever met. Her children never heard her speak negatively of others.

Her family is blessed to have so many wonderful memories of her sense of humor, her creativity—she loved to sew and do crafts—but most of all, the deep love she shared so freely will live on in the hearts of all her family members. She was a member of the Perry Community Home Ec Club for over 50 years, and she thoroughly enjoyed the community and friendships she gained during that time. Margaret was also a devoted member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church in Mt. Pleasant, IN, where she faithfully attended for many years. She loved the Lord deeply, and her family knows heaven is rejoicing that this precious soul is home now.

Margaret is survived by her children, Scott (Norma) Warnes, Karen (Mike) Robertson, Connie (Tom) Honn, Mary Jo (Dave) Helms, and Rebecca (Jerry) Kuhn; grandchildren Jim, Matt, Jason, Micah, Melissa, Eva, Chris, Stephen, Breanna, Samantha, Clay, Max, Lauryn, John, Isabelle, Judah and Maddox, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her brothers Harold and George "Red," sister Jean, and great-grandson Marquise Harris.

Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 2-4 Sunday prior to the service.
