Marilyn Louise Boatman

Marilyn Louise Boatman, 70, of New Castle, passed way surrounded by her family on August 3, 2026. She was born on October 8, 1955, in New Castle, to the late John and Jocia (Thompson) Groce.

Marilyn’s early years were spent in Blountsville, where she attended school until the third grade. She completed her education at New Castle schools. Coming from a large family of twelve children, Marilyn recognized from an early age the importance of family—a value that remained central throughout her life. Marilyn worked in several positions, cleaning houses, working in a flower shop, and as a skilled seamstress at Indiana Knitwear Corp in Greenfield, IN.

Marilyn and her beloved husband, Danny, shared countless adventures—fishing trips, memorable travels to Kentucky, Yahtzee tournaments, and cherished holiday gatherings that brought family together. To Marilyn, family was not just a priority—it was everything. She was thoughtful and enjoyed caring for others. She enjoyed playing games on her phone, engaging in card games, and enjoying oldies music. Marilyn loved animals and watching movies and TV shows, especially her favorite show, Survivor, which she never missed an episode.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Danny Boatman; daughter, Khrystal Rigney (Tracey Perry); grandchildren, Shelby Rigney (Whitney Parks), Earl Rigney, Tammy (Dusty) Dunaway, and Levi Prince; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Pearl (Bob) Mills, Roy (Helen) Groce, John (Carol) Groce, Larry (Debbie) Groce, Linda Carter, and Dan Groce; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald William and Barabara Boatman; brother-in-law, Tim Denny; nephew, Noah Denny; niece, Tayli Denny; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Prince; granddaughter, Shylow Rigney; 2 sisters and 3 brothers; sister-in-law, Teresa Denny; and nephew Timothy Denny.

Services will be on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 5:00pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of the service on Friday. Cremation will follow at Hinsey-Brown. Memorial contributions may be given to the Marilyn Boatman Memorial Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
