New Castle

Marilyn Jean Fellers, 90, of Mt. Summit, IN received her angel wings on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 18, 1935 in Mooreland, IN to the late William and Prudence (Cline) Bales.

Marilyn was a graduate of Mooreland High School in 1953 and resided in the Mooreland and Mt. Summit area most of her life. She married Marland Fellers on December 31, 1954 and celebrated 56 anniversaries before his passing in 2011. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She was happiest when everyone gathered at the table for holiday meals or special occasions.

She worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis just out of high school for 3 years. Spent six years at home raising children. She retired from New Castle State Developmental Center after 32 years of service. After retirement she was a substitute teacher at Blue River, Shenandoah, and Union elementary schools and loved it.

She and Marland were snow birds after her retirement and spent the winters in Haines City, FL. She enjoyed a lot of line dancing and spending time with friends.

She was a long-time member of Mt. Summit Christian Church and made sure her children attended church from an early age. She urged them to always keep Jesus in their hearts and love one another.

Marilyn loved getting together with friends for social activities. Whether it was Home Ec Club or Red Hats club, there was always a good time had by all. She and Marland also gathered once a month for Euchre Club with life-long friends for fun, fellowship and food.

Marilyn is survived by her Children, Marla (Roger) Huxhold, Chris Fellers, and Brad Fellers; 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marland Fellers; her son, Terry Fellers; her brother, William Bales Jr; and her sister, Mary Lou Himes Manifold.
