On October 10, 2023, The Good Sheperd called home a member of His flock, Mary B. (Ankrom)
Current, 91, of New Castle, IN.
She was born on May 30, 1932 in Henry County, IN a daughter of the late Emmett and Elsie (Gulley) Ankrom.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Mooreland High School and was a member of the Blountsville
Christian Church. On December 12, 1953, Mary married the love of her life, Rev. Thomas H. Current
and they were married for 67 years until Tom’s passing. Mary served as a very capable pastor’s wife
as Tom pastored several churches in central Indiana over the years.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her daughter, Jan (Eric) Baker of Mooreland; son, Tom Current
(Anita McCall) Current of New Castle; five grandchildren, Jason (Janel) Current, Lisa (Matt) Pope,
Ryan (Kathleen Gebhart-Bunting) Current, Jennifer (Dan) Garreth, and Hannah (Jason) Lowe;
sixteen great grandchildren, Michaela Current, Jacob Current, Ella Howard, Bronson Jones, Cassidy
(Dom Cartrette) Pope, Corbin Pope, Collin Pope, Madison Current, Myla Current, Terrick Guffey,
MacKenzie (Jack) Brittain, Madison Garreth, Nathan Garreth, Morgan Lowe, Maile Lowe, and
Makenna Lowe; great-great grandson, Jameson Cartrette; sisters-in-law, Jane Matthews and Esther
Ankrom; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Thomas H. Current;
great granddaughter, Ella Current; brothers, Wayne, Mendel, Merl and Bob; sister, Janet Meyer.
Services will be held at 12:00pm Friday, October 13, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New
Castle with Pastor Debi Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be
from 11:00am until time of service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org , or JDRF, 200 Vesey Street, 28th Floor, New York,
NY, 10281 or Autism Society of Indiana, 10255 Commerce Dr Ste. 164 Drive, Carmel, IN 46032. You
