Mary Ann Halstead

Mary Ann Halstead, 85, of Mooreland, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. She was born January 28, 1936 in Henry County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Robert Aerial and Ramona Elaine (Waltz) Williams.

A 1954 graduate of Mooreland High School, Mary Ann worked for over 23 years at the Henry County Health Department. A member of Mooreland Friends Meeting since 1936, she had served as Sunday School teacher, Elder and song leader. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and raising her kids.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Leanna (Steve) Turner of Muncie; sons, Chris (Karla) Halstead, and Ross (Judy) Halstead, both of Mooreland; and Bill (Lisa) Halstead of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Julie Clapp of New Castle, Craig (Kim) Swoveland of Mooreland, Kaitlyn Thompson of Muncie, Karen Halstead of New Castle, Jacob Halstead of Mooreland, Haley Halstead of Indianapolis, and Delaney Francis of Indianapolis; seven great grandchildren, Jackson Clapp, Caleb Clapp, Connor Swoveland, Brayden Swoveland, Noah Thompson, Alivia Suchovsky, and Holland McGinnins; brother, John Williams of Mooreland; and a nephew, Richard Williams of Mooreland.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lee Halstead in 2014 and a grandson in law, Jay Clapp in 2018.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 31, 2021 at Mooreland Friends Meeting with Pastor Brenda Early officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to Mooreland Volunteer Fire Department, 101 S.
